DMCA & Copyright Policy

Last Updated: March 1, 2026

leafbrowser.org (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (the “DMCA”), the text of which may be found on the U.S. Copyright Office website at http://www.copyright.gov/legislation/dmca.pdf, we will respond expeditiously to claims of copyright infringement committed using our website.

1. The Technical Licensing Reality (Pre-Filing Notice)

Before filing a formal DMCA takedown request, please review the licensing architecture of the files hosted on our digital archive:

  • PC / ChromeOS Architecture: The legacy Leaf Browser application (v0.1.2 Alpha) developed by Sam Lanning was officially released and archived under the permissive MIT License. This open-source license explicitly permits any person obtaining a copy of the software and associated documentation files to deal in the software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software.
  • Android Architecture: The Leaf Browser mobile application (v1.0.1) developed by M2216 Developer is distributed entirely free of charge ($0.00) without premium paywalls or locked features.

We do not modify, crack, or inject malicious code into these source files. Our platform serves purely as a historical and educational repository.

2. Mandatory Non-Affiliation Declaration

We are NOT associated, affiliated, authorized, or endorsed by Sam Lanning, M2216 Developer, or Google LLC. We are an independent, fan-made educational resource. All logos, icons, and software names are the intellectual property of their respective owners and are used here under the principles of “Fair Use” for identification and educational archiving.

3. The “Smart Bridge” Educational Clause

For platforms where a native application does not exist (such as specific Apple iOS environments), we provide educational installation guides using third-party web profiles or lightweight alternatives. We do not host, distribute, or claim to own native .exe or .ipa files unless officially released by the developer. These guides and configurations are strictly for informational purposes, and we claim no ownership over the third-party competitor software we may recommend.

4. How to Submit a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you are a copyright owner, authorized to act on behalf of one, or authorized to act under any exclusive right under copyright, please report alleged copyright infringements taking place on or through the Site by completing the following DMCA Notice of Alleged Infringement:

  1. Identify the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed, or – if multiple copyrighted works are covered by this Notice – you may provide a representative list of the copyrighted works that you claim have been infringed.
  2. Identify the material or link you claim is infringing (or the subject of infringing activity) and to which access is to be disabled. You must provide the exact URL(s) of the .apk or .zip payload in question.
  3. Provide your company affiliation (if applicable), mailing address, telephone number, and, if available, email address.
  4. Include both of the following statements in the body of the Notice:
  • “I hereby state that I have a good faith belief that the disputed use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law (e.g., as a fair use).”
  • “I hereby state that the information in this Notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of the copyright or of an exclusive right under the copyright that is allegedly infringed.”
  1. Provide your full legal name and your electronic or physical signature.
